Iowa sports reporter goes viral after complaining about weather coverage

“I play sports all the time. It’s all canceled here for a few days,” a sarcastic Woodley said in the video, standing outside snowy Waterloo, Iowa. Is there a better time to tell players to get up about five hours earlier than normal to stand out in the wind and snow and cold and tell others not to do the same?”

“I’m used to these nightly shows that are only half an hour, and generally at shows that I’m in,” he said in another segment. Watch me grow grumpy for hours on end.”

“Can I go back to my old job?” he gripped for another moment. “I’m sure you guys added an extra hour to this hour just because someone likes torturing me.”

Woodley said he “didn’t know” that the channel had a 3:30 am slot, and didn’t know he covered that slot until the night before.

As a result, he only got about three hours of sleep before being sent off into the storm.

“Some of the things I probably wouldn’t have said if I had slept eight hours,” he joked in an interview with CNN on Friday.

Woodley said his sarcastic remarks were “a little bit of who I am.”

“We bring these things up every year, and it’s all the same. I think sometimes viewers ignore it. He emphasized the importance of having a firm understanding of what needs to be done to

And luckily, Woodley’s manager approves of his on-air attitude.

“At least for now they’re on board with it,” he said. He explained that his candid remarks were only a fraction of the time he spent on the air.

“It was my sister-in-law who said, ‘I gotta tweet this,'” he said. “Posted on Twitter thinking 20-30 people would see this. My manager wouldn’t mind. It’s not going anywhere. Judd aApatow retweeted you.”

“It was insane,” he added.

Woodley said the video was “a lot of fun”, although “there was some truth in it”.

“I think every reporter who’s done this wants to say that,” he said.

As for fan calls that he should pivot from sports to weather? “It’s my absolute nightmare,” he said. “We’re a little understaffed, like all newsrooms are domestic. That’s why I was in this situation.

“I’m a team player,” he continued. “Of course I would if asked, but it’s my absolute nightmare. I hope to God I’ll never be asked to do that again.”
