MONTGOMERY, Alabama (WSFA) – Holiday travel is in full swing nationwide as 7.2 million passengers are expected to fly.

The Montgomery Regional Airport prepares to take off about 1,500 travelers from the capital. They ask people to be patient while traveling on vacation and to be prepared for sudden changes in travel plans.

Brittney Jones-Dabney, Airport Communications and Marketing Manager, said:

Jones-Dabney said Delta’s ticket counters close 30 minutes before a flight departs, while American Airlines closes its counters 45 minutes before departure.

Extreme temperatures can also affect airport taxiways, so personnel will stand by and inspect them regularly in case de-icing is required for safe departures and landings.

Airlines are individually responsible for de-icing their aircraft in preparation for take-off.

Airport communications managers ask travelers to check with airlines regularly for flight updates, delays and cancellations.
