New sexual assault charges filed against a delivery driver accused of kidnapping and killing 7-year-old Athena Strand in Texas earlier this month date back to three separate incidents in 2013, according to indictment documents. shows.

A Fort Worth Police Department investigation found Tanner Lynn Horner to have sexually assaulted a child under the age of 17 three times in June, August and December 2013, according to an indictment filed Wednesday. is held.

No minor casualties were identified. The indictment originated in Tarrant County, records show.

Horner was arrested earlier this month on murder and kidnapping charges after he told authorities he accidentally hit Athena with his car while delivering her to her home on November 30. According to two arrest warrants obtained by CNN affiliate KTVT, she feared she would tell someone she had been run over by a FedEx truck.

Horner, who was already held in Wise County jail on $1.5 million bail, has an additional $15,000 bail set against him for each of the three sexual assault allegations from Tarrant County. His first court appearance is set for him on January 5, 2023, according to Tarrant County court records.

Wise County Sheriff Lane Aiken told CNN that the 2013 charges “happened some time ago” and were separate from the Strand case. Several people have come forward in connection with the 2013 charges that followed Horner’s arrest, Akin said.

CNN was unable to determine if Horner has an attorney.

Strand’s family filed a lawsuit this month against FedEx and one of its subcontractors, accusing them of gross negligence and Horner’s assault. According to the lawsuit, the family is seeking more than $1 million in damages from the company and Horner.

According to the lawsuit, Horner delivered the package to FedEx Ground, but was employed through a subcontractor, Big Topspin.

“Our thoughts are with Athena Strand’s family in the aftermath of this tragedy and we are aware of the complaints filed against FedEx Ground,” FedEx said in a statement.
