Here are the weekly online travel updates for the week ending 23 December 2022: As our short list of articles highlights, the past week has been a relatively quiet week in the world of online distribution.

  • DOT Extends Comment Period on Proposed Rule on Airline Ancillary ChargesFor those following the latest on federal rulemaking for ancillary charges in the travel industry (both airlines and hotels), before the FTC announced its plans to pursue hotel and resort fee rulemaking, the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced its own plans to regulate ancillary charges in the airline industry, including announcing a proposed new rule on the matter in October. At the request of several industry associations and groups, the DOT announced last week that it would extend the comment period for those interested in the proposed new DOT rules. Due to the extension, he will have until January 23rd to comment.
