Airport officials have provided tips for your next vacation trip.
— Do not truncate. Please plan to arrive 2 hours before domestic and international departure times.
— Due to the construction of Terminal 1, traffic and airport road changes will be expected.
— Peak inspection times at airport checkpoints are 5-7am and 4-6pm. Holiday delays can cause passengers to wait up to an hour longer.
— A free shuttle bus runs 24 hours between the car rental center and the airport terminals.
— Reservations are highly recommended as parking is limited and the Terminal 1 car park is closed.
— The Terminal Loop Shuttle efficiently transports passengers between both terminals.
— Curbside pickup is available every 10 minutes.
— To get to the airport, take the Coaster downtown to Santa Fe Depot Station or the MTS Trolley to Old Town Station.
— MTS Route 992 stops at Terminals 1 and 2 from 5am to midnight, every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays.
— Taxis, Lyft, Uber, shuttles, or other commercial transportation permitted by the airport are the best ways to get to and from the SAN.
— When picking someone up, please use the cell phone racks in the Terminal 2 West parking lot on McCain Road. This is a great way to avoid detouring the airport and further congesting terminal roads. Mobile phone storage is free and a convenient place to wait for arriving passengers.

In November 2021, airport authorities began construction of the new Terminal 1. This includes replacing the current terminal, improving the airfield, improving transport connections to the airport and a new administration building.
