Chautauqua County Commissioner PJ Wendell this afternoon lifted mandatory evacuation orders for all residents of the towns of Hanover and Sheridan, and the villages of Silver Creek, Hanford Bay, or Sunset Bay.

Additionally, Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quatron has lifted a travel advisory for Chautauqua County. The state of emergency is in effect through Monday for all areas of Chautauqua County north of Route 5.

Chautauqua County is also urging county residents who have returned to their homes to take caution and not park their vehicles on the street. The weather forecast calls for 1-2 feet of snow. Road workers cannot keep the road clear if there are vehicles parked on the road.

“Thank you to our first responders and road crew.” said Wendell. “This storm could have been very dangerous. First responders and road workers ensured the safe evacuation of people in Chautauqua County, especially along Lake Erie.”
