It’s been over a week since a missing father in Northern Virginia missed his daughter’s first Christmas.

The family continues to desperately search for 20-year-old Jose Guerrero, who went missing on December 21st.

While searching a park near where Guerrero’s car was found, the family told FOX 5 they found a trail of blood near a wooded area.

Prince William County Police said Guerrero was “endangered” and went missing under suspicious circumstances.

“We knew from the beginning that something was wrong,” said his mother, Andrea Salgado.

According to Salgado, Guerrero and his girlfriend were scheduled to go see the Christmas lights on Wednesday night.

“I had a date and was going to see the baby. He said he’d be out in five to ten minutes,” Salgado said.

Jose Guerrero, 20, of Woodbridge

She describes her son as a sweet, shy, loving boyfriend, new dad, and big brother.

He was last seen leaving his Woodbridge home on Lynn Street just a week ago.

Two days later, his car was found abandoned less than two miles from his home near Bel Air and Jeffries Road, according to police.

His girlfriend, Sheila Perez, says he had blood in it that police have yet to confirm.

“We found blood in his car, so I have a feeling someone did something to him,” Perez said. “I mean, why is there blood in the car?”

She says she was tracking Guerrero’s iPhone the night he went missing and saw him driving by Neabsco Regional Park.

When the family was looking there on Monday, they found a trail of blood.

“I was just talking and looking down and I could see little drops of blood,” Salgado said.

At that time, the family says they decided to call the police.

“They came in that day and took it as evidence, but we still don’t have the results,” Perez said.

On Wednesday, a dozen droplets were still visible. The family isn’t sure if it’s related to Guerrero’s disappearance, but they fear the worst.

They said no one knew who wanted to hurt him or why he would miss his 10-month-old daughter Avery’s first Christmas.

“I think she knows her dad isn’t here,” Perez said. “Because she’s looking for him. She asked for him, and I can’t say anything.”

The families have offered rewards for information and are pleading with anyone who knows anything to turn themselves in to the police.

Police said Guerrero was 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed 109 pounds and was last seen wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans and black shoes.
