David Blau will be the fourth starter in four games for the Cardinals. Kyler his Murray started Week 14 before his season ended with a knee injury. Colt McCoy started Week 15 before being diagnosed with a concussion. Trace McSorley started Week 16.

McCoy was expected to return to the starting line-up this week, but was sidelined after experiencing a recurrence of concussion-like symptoms on Thursday.

The Cardinals could have returned to McSorley, but the team wants to see what Bluff can do after he threw for 217 yards with an interception in last week’s 19-16 loss to the Bucks. It’s time for them to assess and look ahead to 2023.

Braff signed with the Cardinals from the Vikings’ practice team on the same day Murray was placed on the injured reserve on December 14.

“Learning new offenses wherever we go is the number one goal of a quarterback,” Braff said Friday via Arizona Sports’ Tyler Drake. I feel very comfortable. They have done a good job preparing me.”

Braff has not started a game since starting five games in 2019. He hasn’t thrown a pass in a regular season game since Week 16 of the 2020 season.

“I am blessed to be able to stand before you,” said Braff. “Thank you to everyone who gave me this opportunity this week and helped me stand where I am now. I hope you know. I can only thank you.”

Of course, the Cardinals are already out of postseason contention, so the Bluffs have nothing but games to lose.

“He’s smart and knows basic concepts and game plans,” said Cardinals manager Cliff Kingsbury. “We tailor the script to what he’s happy with so he can play fast and perform at a high level.”
