Professional rally driver Ken Block later became an internet sensation with his daring stunt behind the wheel.

“It is with great regret that I was able to confirm today that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident,” Hoonigan said in a statement posted to Instagram on Monday.

“Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, an icon, and most importantly a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed.”

The accident occurred in Wasatch County, Utah. According to the local sheriff’s office, Block was driving up a steep slope when the snowmobile landed on top of it upside down.

“He was injured in the accident and was confirmed dead at the scene,” they said in a statement, adding that he was riding with a group but was alone when the accident occurred.

Brock started his rallying career in 2005 and was named Rookie of the Year in the Rally America Championship. He competed in the World Rally Championship and won several rallycross his medals at the X Games.
