Princeton student Misrach Ewunetie, who died by suicide, likely sank ‘deeper and deeper into a coma’: expert

Princeton University student Misrach Ewunetie, who died by suicide in October, probably felt no pain, a forensic pathologist told Fox News Digital.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday that a 20-year-old Jr. took his own life after taking lethal doses of bupropion, escitalopram and hydroxyzine.

“These are the kinds of drugs that put you to sleep, and you go into a coma more and more,” Dr. Michael Burden told Fox News Digital. “They don’t cause pain.”

Bupropion and escitalopram, known by the brand names Wellbutrin and Lexapro, are primarily prescribed for depression, while hydroxyzine is an antihistamine that treats allergies and anxiety.

Burden, the former chief coroner of New York City, said hydroxyzine was a mild drug and the main chemical culprit in her death was probably the antidepressant.

They would have degraded her brain, respiration, and heart function until she lost consciousness and eventually died.

Ewunetie’s body was found by university officials on October 20 behind a tennis court on campus.

Her disappearance has sparked a massive manhunt by campus security, police, and divers.

Mr Baden said it was not uncommon for people to take their own lives by overdosing on antidepressants. .

Baden added that normally a person would take these drugs and die in bed. “For some reason she didn’t want to be found in her own dorm. Maybe she didn’t want to upset her roommate who found her.”

A native of Ethiopia, Youneti lived with her family. Euclid, Ohiobefore attending college, I majored in sociology.

According to her high school, she had won a full scholarship to an Ivy League school after ranking first in her class of 107 students.

Before returning to her dorm room, Ewunetie volunteered to help out with a live music event at the Terrace Club on October 13th.

Her roommate last saw her around 3 a.m. the next day, her brother, Universe Ewunetie, told the US Sun.

Two days later, Ewunetie’s parents notified the university’s public safety department that she had not heard from them.

Princeton Vice President W. Rochelle Calhoun mourned her death after her body was discovered.

“Mithrak’s death is an unimaginable tragedy,” Calhoun wrote in a statement. “Our hearts go out to her family, her friends and the many who knew and loved her.”
