After training cornerback Josh Norman on Monday, the Panthers signed him to the practice team. The team announced the move in Norman’s video.
The Panthers needed help in the starting position for cornerback Jaycee Horn, who is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday for a broken wrist. Panthers coach Steve Wilkes has ruled out Horn’s return this season. No, the team has not ruled out Horn on Sunday.
Via ESPN’s David Newton, Wilkes said, “We’ve seen certain scenarios where the surgery went well, the surgery went well, and he was able to play.” there is.”
Wilkes said Norman won’t start on Sunday and Keith Taylor will take the job opposite CJ Henderson, but Norman is expected to take on the role.
“He’s got experience in this league,” Wilkes said. “He brings veteran leadership, and most importantly I feel like he has his DNA. He played for me. We understand the culture we’re trying to create and the elements of play we’re looking for.
“Hopefully he’s in good enough shape to be able to play for us this week.”
Norman, who played for the Panthers from 2012 to 2015, started 14 games for the 49ers last season but hasn’t played since.
