Funviralpark Several New York Giants players are believed to have been inside the Mall of America during Friday night’s shooting, ESPN reports.
The shooting killed a 19-year-old at America’s largest shopping center, police said.
The Giants were staying at a nearby hotel, and several players entered before the shooting began, a team spokesperson confirmed to the Associated Press.

“Everyone is back at the hotel and explaining what happened,” Hanlon told the AP Friday night. The mall was temporarily closed as a result of the shooting.

Bob Papa, the Giants’ longtime radio voice, said he was also inside the mall when gunshots rang out.
“Huge here at Mall of America. Mall shooting. Lockdown at Twin Cities Grill. Two shooters, at least one dead,” he wrote on Twitter.
Giants general manager Joe Shane was also at the mall at the time. The team was in Minnesota this week for their Week 16 game against the Vikings.
According to the Bloomington Police Department, security cameras showed the shooting escalated from an altercation between two groups of young men.

At one point, someone pulled out a gun and shot the victim multiple times, police said.
Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said a bullet grazed a bystander’s jacket during a shooting at the Nordstrom wing of the mall.

Authorities said the incident began around 7:50 p.m. and lasted for about 30 seconds. None of the Giants players inside the mall were injured.

Nordstrom stores in malls will not reopen on Saturday, people familiar with the matter said.
