Incredible video, images show Buffalo, Niagara Falls frozen after winter storm

A stunning image has emerged showing frozen scenes in Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls, following a deadly Christmas weekend winter storm that hit the region.

Drone footage captured snow-covered homes, businesses and streets in Buffalo, where a driving ban remains in place on Wednesday.

At least 27 people have been confirmed dead in the city after a weekend of snow and ice explosions, creating a dangerous whiteout condition for those outside.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown wrote on Twitter: “Police expect the number to rise. Our hearts and prayers go out to their families.”

Many vehicles that took to the streets during the storm ended up being abandoned.

Temperatures on Tuesday remained in the mid-20s, but are rising as is the rest of the Northeast.

With an estimated 3,160 tons of water flowing over it every second, the falls themselves have escaped deep freeze.
