Update on Friday, December 23rd at 2pm: Stay off Interstate 94 as crashes and snowstorm conditions worsen, state police say

Michigan State Police are reporting multiple shutdowns on a section of Interstate 94 due to numerous crashes Friday morning as a currently active blizzard impacts the area. .
Among them, eastbound I-94 at Mile Marker 41 in Berien County is closed due to a semi-tractor-trailer crash. Tweet from MSP.
Seven miles further east, at Mile Marker 48 in Van Buren County, a patrol vehicle was reportedly attacked. The police said he was fine.
Interstate 94 westbound Exit 60 is also closed due to the crash, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Also on westbound I-94 near mile marker 88 in Kalamazoo County, Jackknife cicadas are blocking the driveway, police said.
Visibility is near zero along portions of Interstate 94, including Van Buren County.
The Michigan Department of Transportation reports that exit 34 of eastbound I-94 near Benton Harbor is also closed.
Police are asking all drivers to seek alternative routes until the roads are reopened.
They are also asking people to reconsider traveling today unless absolutely necessary.
