Eagles don’t open practice window for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

The Eagles began Wednesday’s practice without opening the practice window for the safety of Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. This seems to indicate that he will not be able to play on Sunday.

Gardner-Johnson entered the Injaldo reserves on Dec. 3 after suffering a lacerated kidney during the Eagles’ game against the Packers on Nov. 27.

After missing a minimum of four games with the Titans, Giants, Bears and Cowboys, Gardner Johnson is eligible to activate. The Eagles will face his former team, the Saints, at the rink on Sunday to earn the No. 1 seed in his bracket in the NFC playoffs and bid a first-round bye with a win.

However, when practice began at 1:45 p.m., the club had not announced a move to open Gardner-Johnson’s 21-day practice window. Opening his practice window would rejoin the team and give the Eagles 21 days to either activate him or keep him on injured reserves, ending the season.

Jordan Davis and Abonte Maddox were able to play the week they started practicing. Dallas Goedert had to wait another week. But at least opening the practice window shows that players are getting closer to the point where they can play.

With all previous players out of the IR, the Eagles opened a practice window before Wednesday’s practice of the week when they returned to action.

By not opening the CJGJ practice window, it remains unclear when we will be able to return. The Eagles will finish the regular season with the Saints and Giants before heading into the postseason on the weekend of January 14-16 for wild-card teams and the weekend of January 21-22 for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. let’s start doing ….

It’s still possible, but not at all possible, but we could open up his practice window later this week and get him back in a Saints game.

Despite missing the last four games, Gardner-Johnson shares the NFL’s interception lead with Seahawks rookie cornerback Tarik Uhren. 6, and the most since Terry Hoge’s 8 in 1988.

The Eagles acquired Gardner-Johnson from the Saints on August 30.

With Abonte Maddox out indefinitely with a toe injury, the Eagles are missing two key defensive backs.

Undrafted rookie Reed Blankenship safely started in place of Gardner Johnson, with Josiah Scott replacing Maddox.

If the Eagles get Gardner Johnson back, they can move him to Maddox’s slot spot and keep Blankenship safe. If not, it looks like they have no real choice but to keep playing Scott.
