Funviralpark A Michigan doctor who went missing last week was found dead in a frozen pond near his home on Tuesday afternoon.
A diver was seen in Jackson County around 12:30 p.m. after investigators recovered security footage from the doctor’s home on Monday showing him walking out of the house, according to the Blackman Leoni Township Department of Public Safety. Extracted Borek Payan’s body from the ice pond. .
Police dogs, drones and police officers searched the woods around Payang’s home before authorities drilled holes in the ice covering the pond, according to the Public Security Bureau.
“Detectives believe Dr. Payan died before being reported missing due to weather conditions on the day he left his residence and the fact that he was in the water,” the agency said.
A family friend, Nicole Kaiser, said Payan, who worked at Henry Ford Hospital, dropped the dog off with her around 8 a.m. Thursday and was due to pick him up that evening.
Before Payang’s body was discovered, Kaiser told WILX-TV that it was “disrespectful” to drive home without taking the dog.
