Rep. Chip Roy on Friday blasted into the process of being forced to a speedy vote on a $1.7 trillion bill that no one read, saying the Democratic Party’s rush job is destroying the country.

“We’re spending money we don’t have,” a Texas Republican said on the floor of the House Friday morning. But you’re destroying the United States of America, you’re destroying this body completely.”

Roy proposed several amendments to the giant appropriations bill, but none were approved as Democratic leadership called for a vote by noon Friday. Roy mocked Democrats for saying they refused to negotiate with them as the process on a bill they said would add $31.3 trillion to the national debt has unfolded rapidly in recent days.

“Which table are you referring to gentlemen?” Roy asked. “What table does he want us to sit at to negotiate? there is no.”

“Since May 2016, not a single amendment has been proposed to the body’s floor in public debate,” he said.

“Everything Americans are seeing right now is complete fake,” Roy added. “This is a scam. It’s being done to Americans right before our eyes for Christmas.”

Roy this week accused 18 Senate Republicans of supporting the bill.

“The 18 Republicans who joined the Democrats in the Senate flew home on a fancy plane. We’re sitting here trying to do people’s jobs. Don’t spend money you don’t have, drive No. If inflation accelerates, we don’t need to set aside $7,500 to spend $16 billion on pet-left projects across this country,” he said.

Roy said lawmakers were more worried about leaving for Christmas than about writing a wiser bill. Considered delaying passage of the bill in the House of Representatives by issuing a motion to adjourn, demanding more time to deal with it.

“They were more worried about making their Christmas flight and they came up to me and said, ‘We can’t be here for Christmas.’ Well, why not?” rice field.

Roy also resented the idea that more than half of the House of Representatives voting on Friday could already be home for Christmas. This allows you to assert your concerns about COVID as a reason to vote remotely.

However, Roy hinted that most members vote remotely just to jump on vacation.

“Half of this body is not here,” he said. “And they’re lying. They’re lying on their forms and saying they’re voting by proxy for COVID, which is a lie.”
