Bengals would have tough playoff matchup based on current standings

The Cincinnati Bengals have qualified for the playoffs and currently hold the No. 3 seed in the AFC, making them very likely playoff opponents.

After Monday’s results, the Bengals face the sixth-seeded Los Angeles Chargers in the first round of the playoffs, reigniting the Joe Burrow-Justin Herbert debate.

With these Chargers going 9-6, Herbert had another strong season, completing 68% of his passes for 21 touchdowns while dealing with surrounding injuries.

The Burroughs Bengals have a seven-game winning streak and are one of the MVP contenders after overcoming a slow start due to appendicitis during training camp. He and Herbert have been compared endlessly, so it’s only fitting if they finally dance in the postseason.

Of course, the standings will change over the next two weeks, but here’s what’s happening right now:

  1. Bill 12-3
  2. Chiefs 12-3
  3. Bengals 11-4
  4. Jaguars 7-8
  5. Ravens 10-5
  6. Charger 9-6

And AFC North:

  1. Bengals 11-4
  2. Ravens 10-5
  3. Steelers 7-8
  4. Browns 6-9

The Bengals have yet to secure a division and may need to win. They will face the Buffaloes next Monday and then the Ravens to close out the season. With help, they were able to climb him to one of his two top spots in the conference.

For now, it’s the third seed and date with the Chargers, and interestingly enough, it could be a tougher matchup than if they had a lower seed.
