The Hennepin County Coroner’s Office said Sunday that Jonte Hudson of St. Paul died of multiple gunshot wounds at a mall in Bloomington, Minnesota, before 8 p.m. Friday.
Police arrested five teenagers Saturday in connection with a shooting at a house in the Minneapolis suburb of St. Louis Park. Police Chief Booker Hodges said two of his teens said he was 18 and three said he was 17.
The chief told the Star Tribune on Sunday that all five will be charged with second-degree murder on Tuesday.
Police say the shooting occurred after two groups of young men got into a fight at the mall anchor Nordstrom. Police have not explained the relationship between the groups, nor have they provided details of the dispute.
Hudson’s sister, 22-year-old Ja’Nayea Hudson, told KARE-TV on Saturday that her brother is trying to find his place and apply to college. He said he was going to the mall to find shoes to match his sweater and was trying to avoid a certain group of young men.
“They were doing a lot of things and he was trying to get away from it all,” she said.
