A Georgia man tried to rob a business on Christmas morning, but slipped on the ice as he tried to escape.
Gainesville Police said it was “like a scene from Home Alone.”
Luis Sajbocho-Ordonez, 30, hid behind a Gainesville business, pulled out a gun and demanded cash from an employee who emerged from the back of the building early Sunday morning.
It happened around 1:00 am on Sunday, behind the store at 415 Atlanta Hwy.
When Sajbocho-Ordonez tried to flee the scene, he slipped on the ice. And now his injuries are being compared to the movie Home Alone character Marv, who famously slipped on ice trying to break into McCallister’s house in the 1990s Christmas classic.
Police say Luis Sabocho Ordonez, 30, pointed a gun at an employee behind his company at 415 Atlanta Highway in Gainesville, Georgia, around 1 a.m. on Christmas Day.
But his plans were sidetracked when he slipped on a patch of ice while trying to escape in an incident that Gainesville police said in a Facebook post “looked like a scene from Home Alone.”
In Sunday’s incident, Sajbochol-Ordonez was treated at the scene by EMS and then taken to Hall County Jail where he was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. Police said there could be additional charges.
Gainesville Police have released more information on their Facebook page, describing the incident as “like a scene from Home Alone.”
Police said the attempted robbery resulted in a physical altercation between Sajbocho-Ordonez and an employee, whose name was not disclosed.
Another employee exited the building and frightened Sabotcho Ordonez, who opened fire. No one was hurt in this incident.
Police said Sajbocho-Ordonez slipped and fell on the ice while trying to escape, hitting his head and face.
Witnesses were able to push two guns away from him while he lay on the ground, police added.
Gainesville Police said in a Facebook post: “Luckily there were no serious injuries and the perpetrator went to jail.

It happened around 1:00 am on Sunday behind the 415 Atlanta Freeway sales office in Gainesville.
