ABC News producer Dax Tejera died Friday night of a heart attack at just 37 years old.
Executive Producer of ABC’s Sunday show This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Tejera had already had an impressive career for someone at a young age.
Condolences from the media world have gone out on behalf of Tejera and the ABC News family. Tejera left his wife and his two daughters.
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to share that our friend and colleague Dax Tejera passed away suddenly last night from a heart attack,” ABC News President Kim Godwin told staff on Saturday. wrote in a message from

“As an EP of ‘This Week with George Stephanopoulos’, Dax’s energy, passion and love for the show, ABC News and you shone through every Sunday morning. Our thoughts are with his wife, Veronica, the couple’s two young daughters, and the entire Tehera family.”
Tejera joined ABC News in 2017 and was named to the EP for ‘This Week’ at just 35 years old. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he previously worked at NBC and Fusion Media Network.
“This week’s co-anchor Jonathan Karl shared that Dax loved his family and loved his job,” Rachel Scott reported to ABC News on Saturday. “His death left us with shock and scars.”

“A sad day for abc,” Jim Avila, ABC’s longtime correspondent, tweeted on Saturday. “A good friend and groundbreaking his ABC executive passed away suddenly at the age of 37. Dax Tejera, my friend has nothing but good ideas.”
