44-year-old man killed in avalanche in Colorado

A 44-year-old man has died after being caught in an avalanche in Colorado, officials said.

The victim was one of four snowboarders caught in an avalanche near Winter Park on Monday afternoon, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center said.

Two snowboarders were buried, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Department. Bystanders and relatives were able to rescue one of the buried snowboarders, but the second was declared dead at the scene.
