BRATTLEBORO — On a surprise visit on December 16th, UScellular donated groceries to the Groundworks Collaborative to support their mission of providing food to those in need. This donation helps purchase food for the organization’s grocery store. At this grocery store, anyone can come buy groceries for free twice a month.

“The Groundworks Collaborative does so much for our community that we want to help fill their wish list and provide the much-needed support they offer throughout the Brattleboro area. I was thinking,” said Tabitha McKay, area vice president and general manager of UScellular in New England. “Food has the power to bring people together. We believe every family deserves to come together, strengthen ties and create memories during this time.”

Groundworks Collaborative was formed in 2015 following the merger of two established organizations, the Brattleboro Area Drop-In Center and Morningside Shelter (27 and 36 years respectively). The organization works with people and systems to create solutions that end hunger and homelessness for everyone in the region. Groundworks Collaborative envisions a community where everyone’s basic needs are met, including a safe and dignified place to call home.

This holiday season, UScellular aims to provide food banks, pantries and shelters with essential supplies to support more than 135 organizations nationwide. UScellular retailers also collect donations for local food-focused nonprofits.
