The Nick Abraham Auto Mall at 1111 E. Broad St. in Elyria is gathering food to restock local food pantries this month.

The idea was formed by Michelle Surter, daughter of Nick Abraham, who is the dealer’s business development manager.

Over the past few years, food has become a major need in the community, Sartor said.

“Grocery bills are rising and food is a very strong need right now,” she said.

So at the start of the food drive, Serter organized a commercial promoting the program and informed the public on social media.

Employee newsletters also encourage donations to the food bank, she said.

All donations go to the St. Jude Helping Hands Food Distribution Center in Elyria, Sarter said.

“It was an amazing outflow from the community,” she said.

Sarter said some people delivered “truckloads” of food and non-perishable goods.

One donor brought two pallets full of pasta.

Sartor said of this support:

She hopes dealers can bring aid to those in need, especially during the holiday season.

Dealers donate $100 to Blessing House for every new and used vehicle sold this month.

The dealer’s family donates regularly to various humanitarian charities, but this month’s campaign is very generous.

Humphrey said that donations not only help the Blessing House, but also provide information about the nonprofit’s services that many families are unaware of.

“We just want to give back,” Sarter said. “We are so blessed. Now I realize that many families are struggling.”

“If there are families who are going through some kind of crisis and are struggling, they need to know that they can call us,” Humphrey added.

The Blessing House is a child crisis center that cares for children up to the age of 12, whose parents or guardians are in a crisis or emergency situation or who may be putting their child at risk of abuse or neglect. Experiencing a certain high level of stress. to that website.

Blessing House has been supporting families for nearly 18 years, according to Humphrey.
