NFL Tailgate Takedown food show launching – but without Cleveland!

Funviralpark 2 years ago 0 3

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Food Network and the NFL have teamed up for the NFL Tailgate Takedown, a series spotlighting pregame grabs in various cities.

The series kicks off on Wednesday, January 4th at 9pm on Food Network and discovery+. Food Network’s Sunny Anderson and former NFL player Vince Wilfork will host.

Unfortunately, Cleveland is not one of those cities, despite its love of football and food. (Cleveland.com asked the Food Network how the cities were chosen.)

Appearing in a one-hour episode, the Tailgate Chef is introduced at the stadium tailgate before the game. Episodes air on consecutive Wednesdays at 9:00 pm.

In each episode, Anderson and Wilfork welcome two co-duo teams outside the stadium on match day. One representing his home ground and one he’s a visiting fan of his team.

In “The First Down,” teams must create a platter of bite-sized snacks served with dips that represent the flavors of their city. The winner gets the advantage and selects the hometown-important ingredients that both teams must use in Round 2.

In that round, “Between the Uprights,” teams must build handheld tailgate treats. The loser must complete the game before the final round known as “Hail Mary”. Next, the team must put together a platter of meat and two sides that would make their hometown proud.

schedule

January 4th: Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants at MetLife Stadium

January 11th: Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High

January 18th: Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium

A rotating panel of judges evaluates the entries. The winner will be ushered directly through the tailgate to her 50-yard line seat and receive the “Yum-Bardi Trophy.”

Former NFL players are also scheduled to appear.

NFL Tailgate Takedown is produced by NFL Films and Simple Alien for Food Network and discovery+.
