The number of families we serve continues to grow each month,” DuPage Township Supervisor Gary Marschke said in a news release.

Meijer donated over $7.6 million to “Simply Give” food pantry partners in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and another $1 million in March. Since this program launched in his November 2008, it has generated more than $69 million in his Midwest pantry to distribute food to residents in need.

We encourage you to support our members.”

Meyer officials said the effort is important in helping local families who, like many local residents, are struggling with food insecurity issues.

“The cold winter months are a difficult time for people facing food insecurity, especially given the difficult situation many families are facing amid the global pandemic, food pantries are being replaced daily. We continue to struggle to keep up with the high volume of requests we receive,” said Cathy Cooper.

“The Simply Give program is a way for Meijer customers to partner with us to support food banks and pantries that feed families in need in their communities. We certainly couldn’t have done it without the support and commitment of our customers and team members.
