$10K, 1K Backpacks Stuffed With Food Donated To MD Boys & Girls Clubs

Annapolis, Md. — Coca-Cola Consolidated and Giant Food recently donated 1,000 backpacks and $10,000 to Maryland Boys & Girls Clubs.

The backpack was packed with non-perishable food. The donation was made just before the winter break. Winter break is a time when many students are suffering from food insecurity without school lunches.

Boys & Girls Clubs CEO Lisa Lindsay-Mondoro said: Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. “This donation will give our young people access to nutritious breakfast items that are fundamentally important to their success.”

More than 30 Coca-Cola Consolidated and Giant Food employees gathered at Coke’s Capitol Heights facility to fill their backpacks. The team packed their backpacks with bottled water, granola bars, fruit snacks, cereals, puddings and fruit cups.

The team loaded the backpacks into Cocoa-Cola trucks and delivered them to the Annapolis & Ann Arundel County Boys & Girls Club on December 15th. The club distributes the backpacks to chapters across the state.

Joachim Rogers, Vice President, Mid-Atlantic Markets, Coca-Cola Consolidated, said: “I am proud and humbled to be part of a team dedicated to service. [others] And working with partners like Giant Food who are dedicated to delivering greater benefits. ”

Felis Andrade, Giant Food’s director of external communications and community relations, said the grocery store chain wants to support the communities it serves.

“Unfortunately, many children in our area don’t get enough to eat, so we hope the backpack item will be a welcome surprise during the holidays.” We thank our partners such as Ted and The Boys & Girls Club for continuing to support our community through a difficult season for many.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County is located at 121 South Villa Ave in Annapolis.
