For me, 2022 was the year of travel. In one year she took 18 flights, 85 hours she rode nearly 20 trains and he spent 7 nights on the world’s largest cruise ship.
In 2022, I traveled more than in any other year.
I traveled back and forth between New York City and Phoenix that year to visit my partner.
In February, I traveled between NYC and Baltimore, Maryland on Amtrak Acela business and first class accommodations.
Two months later, I flew to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for my first embarkation on the world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas. During our 7-night cruise, we made stops in Honduras, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
In May, I flew to Austin, Texas to visit my extended family.
Two months later, I boarded an Amtrak business class train to Niagara Falls, New York, where I crossed the border into Ontario, Canada. From there we took coach and business class trains to Montreal and Quebec City in Quebec, Canada using the Canadian Via Rail system.
That same month, I flew to Salt Lake City, Utah, for my wedding.
In October I flew to Berlin and spent two weeks traveling by train through four European countries: Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. I tried several different train classes including OBB Nightjet, Trenitalia and Intercity Express. From coach to first class and two different sleeper cabins.
Finally, I will be returning to Arizona to visit my family in November and will be back in Austin again for vacation before the end of the year.
But rather than exhausting me, all these trips have inspired me to keep seeing the world as much as I can. I’ll keep that in mind next year when I want to travel just as much, if not more.
