WILMER — Minnesota Department of Transportation crews have reopened state highways throughout Southwest Minnesota’s 8th District.
Blizzards and drifting snow can make nighttime travel difficult in all counties within the district, and roads in Renville, Redwood, and McLeod counties will be closed Saturday night due to blizzards and drifting snow. A ban is recommended.
Portions of Meeker County, including State Route 15 south of Dussel and State Route 12 from Dussel to Kokat, are also included in the no-movement advisory, according to a 5:00 p.m. update from MnDOT District 8. .
According to MnDOT, travel advisories will be implemented overnight and roads will be re-evaluated in the morning.
Everyone is strongly urged to stay off the road with travel ban advisories. All sections of roads are assigned a travel advisory because even if a section of road looks safe to travel, you may encounter dangerous sections.
Conditions vary across the twelve county districts and within each county. Visit 511mn.org to check current conditions on individual roads.
