WINDSOR ROCK, Connecticut (WFSB) – Winter storms have canceled flights across the country, making things particularly bad for Southwestern passengers looking to travel on vacation.

Southwest Airlines has canceled about 2,500 flights nationwide, about two-thirds of them.

Some of the canceled flights departed from Bradley International Airport.

It was very frustrating for passengers who couldn’t make it to their vacation destination.

Frank Contenta of Massachusetts said, “I’m literally so exhausted today because of the adrenaline rush.

Contentas was supposed to spend the week in Sarasota, Florida.

“My parents lost most of their house in the hurricane, so we were going down to fix it,” said Liz Contenta.

They flew out of Bradley on Christmas night.

Instead they canceled 5 flights.

“People at the airport were so upset. It was a complete mess. I mean, people were fighting,” Frank said. “The toll-free number didn’t go through. And I’ve talked to a lot of people about this. They’ve been on hold for hours. People say he’s been waiting three hours for the line to go down.” .”

Southwest came under attack amidst the chaos of cancellations.

Nearly 3,000 flights were canceled nationwide on Monday, with another 2,500 canceled today.

The company blamed recent winter storms for driving its crew out of deployment.

“It’s frustrating for pilots, flight attendants, and especially passengers. We offer our sincere apologies to Southwest Airlines and our deepest sympathies to all passengers who are going through this,” said a deputy at the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association. President and Captain Michael Santoro said:

Mr. and Mrs. Contentus eventually gave up on going to Florida, instead renting a car and driving back from Baltimore to Bradley.

“We waited in line for a rental car for nearly two hours.

Laura and her husband, Greg, eventually took a train from Baltimore to reach their destination in Massachusetts.

Their package never reached Bradley.

Laura Stratton, who lives in San Antonio, Texas, said, “They don’t have Christmas presents, but I bought two pairs at the 100-yen shop, so all I have to do is refill the socks and gloves.”

The U.S. Department of Transportation plans to investigate the large-scale cancellations.
