A travel ban was implemented in all of Erie County and Niagara Falls on Friday morning after high winds and snowstorms caused visibility problems for drivers.

The Erie County ban went into effect at 9:30 am. The City of Buffalo has issued another travel ban, as has the City of Niagara Falls.

At 08:50 AM, the motorway (I-90) was closed in both directions between exit 57 in Hamburg and exit 57A in Eden/Angola due to a cut in the high voltage power line.

Erie County Executive Mark Polonkers tweeted that the thruway situation was caused by a camper crashing into a utility pole.

State Police said westbound traffic from Interstate 90 is diverted at Exit 57 and eastbound traffic is diverted at Exit 58 at Silver Creek.

At 10 a.m., highway authorities reported that all westbound lanes on I-90 were blocked due to a tractor-trailer jackknife just before Exit 49 (Depew). Officials said all westbound traffic must exit I-90 at Exit 48A (Pembroke-Medina-Route 77).
