Rep. Jamie Raskin says he has been diagnosed with lymphoma

manager Jamie Ruskin On Wednesday, he announced that he had been diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. He said it was a “serious but curable cancer” and that he would start chemoimmunotherapy on an outpatient basis.

“We expect to be able to work during this period, but have been warned by doctors to reduce unnecessary exposure to avoid COVID-19, flu and other viruses,” Ruskin said in a statement. “Chemotherapy not only destroys cancer cells, it also impairs natural antibodies and weakens the body’s immune system. (although I remain hopeful about anything that causes weight loss or weight loss).”

Ruskin, 60, added that he plans to “get through this and in the meantime continue to move forward in Congress every day for American democracy.”

“My love and solidarity go out to other families managing cancer and other health conditions this holiday season, and to all the doctors, nurses and health care workers who give us comfort and hope. It will be sent,” Ruskin said.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is one of the most common subtypes of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, according to the Mayo Clinic. It is a type of cancer that begins in the lymphatic system, part of the immune system, where “white blood cells called lymphocytes proliferate abnormally and can form growths (tumors) throughout the body.” Mayo Clinic says:

Maryland gubernatorial candidate Wes Moore posted congratulations to Ruskin. twitterwrote that the congressman “embodies what it means to persevere in the face of overwhelming challenges.”

A Democrat from Maryland, Ruskin was a key member of the House Committee of Inquiry. January 6 Attack on the US Capitoland he served as one of the House impeachment attorneys in President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial in February 2021.

On December 30, 2020, Ruskin’s 25-year-old son, Thomas, committed suicide. Ruskin said, “CBS Sunday MorningJanuary 2022 felt like “the end of the world”.

“Thank you for your love and kindness that my family will never forget,” Ruskin told colleagues ahead of the joint Congress on January 6, 2021.

Ruskin told “CBS Sunday Morning” that when the day turned into chaos when thousands of Trump supporters descended on the Capitol, he “felt no fear the whole time.”

“I think it’s Tommy’s fault,” Ruskin said. “The worst thing that ever happened has already happened. And I felt like Tommy was in my chest. I felt him in my heart. He gave me strength. They gave me.”
