On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took a stab at former President Donald Trump while reflecting on her legacy during her final press conference on Capitol Hill as leader of Congress.

Pelosi said of Trump, “I’ve been a speaker and minority leader under President Bush, President Obama, and What’s His Name.” When we had a Democratic president and we were minority leaders, it was to keep the president’s veto power. It’s like.”

Congress has the power to override a president’s veto with a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate. Because Democrats were in the minority, it was difficult to maintain a veto.

Last month, 82-year-old Pelosi announced that she would relinquish her leadership role after Republicans won control of the House of Representatives, saying “it’s time for a new generation to lead.” Hakeem Jeffrey Rep. Zu (DN.Y.) was unanimously elected to succeed her.

Pelosi, the first woman elected Speaker of the House, was asked what advice she would give to women who look up to her as a role model.

“The best advice I can give you is to be yourself,” Pelosi said. “You are the only you in the history of the world. and we need that variety at the table.”

The speaker also said he wanted women to “have confidence.”

“So sometimes when I act a little bit more, I want them to know that it’s okay to assert themselves, just like I am,” Pelosi said. Uniqueness. ”

“I was blown away by the way women told me how I gave them confidence and how I was a role model,” she said. Don’t worry, just be honest.'”
