The newborn was treated at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center on Tuesday and is alive and recovering, according to Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg.
Once she is released from the hospital, Eckersley, who reportedly suffers from mental illness, is expected to be arraigned in court on felony reckless conduct charges of hiding a baby. increase.
According to WCVB, “There is no excuse for this,” said Aldenberg. “If you choose to live in the woods, choose to live your life a certain way, and don’t want to accept our assistance that is going on every day in this city, then you can live there and be yourself. You want to do that with your life – okay, but you can’t do what we’re claiming here, you can’t do this to your kids.
