D.C.-area forecast: Record cold highs possible today, and frigid for Santa

A somewhat subjective assessment of the day’s weather on a scale of 0 to 10.

  • tonight: Very cold. Low: 10-16.
  • tomorrow: Mostly sunny. breeze. Highs: Late 20’s to late 30’s.

More than 50 low records are in danger of being broken in the eastern United States today, many around here. The highest temperature could see him challenge the 1989 Christmas Eve record after the city had its coldest morning in years. The cold will ease slightly on Christmas Day, but temperatures will remain below freezing throughout the weekend. Perhaps there’s a good reason to stay indoors with family and friends all the time?
