The season isn’t over anytime soon for the Broncos, who fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett on Monday. An embarrassing 51-14 loss to the Rams was the final straw as frustration boiled over for the Broncos.

It was during the game that backup quarterback Brett Rypien and left guard Dalton Lisner got caught in a dust-up on the sideline, while Broncos defensive end Randy Gregory and Rams offensive lineman Odey Abousi traded punches. It started when

Gregory and Abousi received a one-game suspension from the NFL on Monday.

However, Rypien and Risner downplay their in-game interaction and claim they are superior.

“It was just a misunderstanding,” Ripien said via 9News’ Mike Chris. “Dalton and I are really good friends. He thought I said something different.”

Ripien was trying to support quarterback Russell Wilson in the start, but he walked over to where the offense was gathering and said something that would upset listeners. CBS cameras captured the heated exchange.

Video on a fan’s cell phone shows Risner shoving Rypien, after which Ratavius Murray stepped in to push Risner away. Cam Fleming held off listeners, and rookie Montrell Washington stepped ahead of Ripien.

“First and foremost, it’s brotherhood,” Listener told Chris. I let him know we need to go it’s mid game it’s heated up I didn’t really hear what he said he thought we were talking about giving up the sack I was.

“I and he exchanged words, [Murray] We broke up and five minutes later me and him were hugging. Well, I shouldn’t have come to you like that, it should have been a different time, so when you’re feeling frustrated, when you’re a competitor and you want to win, what should you do? Something happens, we only have love for each other.”
