ABC News mourns unexpected death of ‘This Week’ producer

ABC News is mourning the death of the executive producer of “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” after he passed away unexpectedly on Friday.

ABC’s Rachel Scott said on Saturday’s episode of “World News Tonight” that Dax Tejera’s death left ABC in “shock and scars.” Tejera died of a heart attack at the age of 37.

ABC president Kim Godwin sent a memo announcing his death to employees, saying Tehera’s energy, passion and love for the show “shone every Sunday morning.” Godwin said Tejera has his wife Veronica and his two daughters, and the company’s thoughts are with them and his family.

“Dax will be deeply missed by all of us here at ABC News,” said Scott.

Tejera was named Executive Producer of ‘This Week’ last December and has been on the show since just before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
