Executive producer Dax Tehera “suddenly died of a heart attack” on December 23, according to a memo sent to staff by ABC News president Kim Godwin.
The letter shared the news “with heavy hearts and great sadness”.
“As an EP to ‘This Week With George Stephanopoulos’, Dax’s energy, passion and love for the show, ABC News and you shone through every Sunday morning,” the memo continued. “That same love went to his precious daughters.”
Tejera leaves behind his wife Veronica and two young daughters. Godwin said their thoughts are with them and the rest of the Tejera family.

“We are heartbroken”: CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski has revealed that his nine-month-old daughter died on Christmas Eve.
Tragedy hit the news industry two years ago around Christmas. That’s when CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski reported that his nine-month-old daughter Francesca died on her Christmas Eve. She had “a very rare and very aggressive rhabdoid brain tumor.” Kaczynski is married to Wall Street Journal reporter Rachel Louise Ensign.
“It is heartbreaking to announce that our beautiful daughter Francesca passed away last night in her mom and dad’s arms,” Kaczynski said at the time. There will always be a pea-sized hole in your heart. We are so grateful to have known her love. Francesca, we love you.”
The couple later had another daughter, Talia Davida Kaczynski.
“She was named after her older sister Beans’ Hebrew name. We love her endlessly,” Kaczynski shared at the time.
