Pie sale proceeds donated to the Noyo Food Forest – Fort Bragg Advocate-News

The First Presbyterian Church of Fort Bragg presented a check for $1,800 to the “Learning Garden” at Noyo Food Forest. Funding came from the church’s 2022 pie sale at Paul Bunyan Days in September. These funds will be used for educational/promotional videos to promote the Noyo Food Forest program and encourage community members to contribute their time and energy to grow their gardens. Garden Manager Veronica Storms has her passion for Noyo Food Forest!

The harvested produce feeds students at Fort Bragg High School and Summer School. Students learn to appreciate the deliciousness of fresh vegetables. Noyo Food Forest wants students to participate in the garden as an extension of what they learn in the classroom. Pie sale funds from the church also purchased a new tiller that is unique in that it only tills two inches deep, allowing deeper soil to be left undisturbed. This creates a healthier growing environment.

Both the Fort Bragg Rotary and Fort Bragg Seniors on Bikes arranged visits and donated to support the work of Noyo Food Forest. Visits to this working garden are arranged on Tuesdays or Thursdays and allow you to see this incredible garden in action.
