Young woman dies in police car in Christmas Eve horror crash: Victim in 20s dies of injuries at scene

A young woman was hit and killed by a police car in a horrific accident on Christmas Eve.
The victim, who is in his 20s, was hit by a car around 8.10pm last night on Shale Road in Liverpool's Kensington area.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Merseyside Police said no formal identification has yet been made, but that her family has been informed and is being assisted by professional officers.

It added that it had notified the Independent Police Action Service (IOPC), which was present at the scene of the incident.
Witnesses at the scene told the Liverpool Echo that "there were a lot of police" and one said he saw a woman hit by a car.
One person told the outlet: "It's horrible. It's Christmas Eve. It's no good any way you look at it. It's heartbreaking."

Police say the suspect fled the scene in a dark Mercedes and is still on the run.

Detective Superintendent David McAourian said the shooting occurred in a "busy venue full of young people".
Merseyside police are seeking eyewitness, CCTV and dashcam footage that could help investigate the Sheil Road crash.
