update: RPD has confirmed that it is investigating several stolen vehicle incidents and possible links between them. This morning, officers received a report of a burglary and vehicle theft at the A-1 Auto Repair on North Goodman Street. An investigation revealed that at some point during the night, he stole at least six cars after one suspect broke into the place and obtained the keys from inside. The vehicle has not yet been recovered. On Tuesday morning, police responded to a report of the burglary and vehicle theft to Redline Transmission on Atlantic Avenue. During the night, it was reported that at least one suspect broke into the location and stole the keys to the vehicles on the premises. Three vehicles were stolen, of which he recovered two. One was found abandoned and his other was involved in a crash on Ross Street. On Tuesday morning, officers responded to a report of a man sitting in his car on the 1500 block of East Main Street when at least one suspect approached. The suspect allegedly forcibly dragged the man out of the vehicle and drove off, hitting the man in the process. The victim was treated for life-threatening injuries at Strong Hospital. On Tuesday afternoon, police responded to Ross Street for a report of a car accident with people fleeing the scene. It turns out that I collided with a car stolen from the block. Officers recovered both vehicles and the suspect is on the run. The RPD Patrol Section Investigation is currently leading an investigation into these thefts and their potential relevance. Efforts to recover additional vehicles and identify suspects continue. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 911.
