Police charge former Avis Rent-A-Car regional manager after saying she fraudulently rented a company car in exchange for heroin and cash. Jackie Neubauer, 40, of Monroeville, began illegally renting a car at a Monroeville location in October, according to police. Neubauer, the manager of Avis' four regional locations, was the only employee at the Monroeville location where at least 15 vehicles were confirmed stolen. The company believes up to 45 cars could be stolen. Avis also alleges that Neubauer damaged a driver's license scanner at the Monroeville location, removed an internet cable, and removed wires from the plastic housing of an interior piece. A few weeks ago, Avis noticed that the amount of cars available for rent at the Monroeville location soared from an average of 5 cars per day to an average of 20 cars per day in October and November. The company also noticed a loss of revenue and a missing vehicle at the location, police said. Neubauer told Monroeville police on Tuesday that he received heroin from people who rented cars using fake driver's licenses, names, addresses and credit card numbers. She faces charges of forgery and theft. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for her January 9th. Avis fired Neubauer on December 9.
