Police arrested the suspect shortly afterward, who was hiding in a nearby hotel.

"Police were present at the scene and based on information provided by citizens, went to a hotel on nearby Philburn Street where the man was last seen," a police spokesman told West.

He was denied bail and will be held in custody pending a hearing at the Perth Magistrate's Court on Monday.
