Driver dies after hitting stopped car ahead, sparking 4-car collision in Orange County

orange county, florida – Police are investigating a fatal crash in Orange County where a driver speeded into a stopped car in front of him on Thursday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the crash report, the driver, a 64-year-old man from Davenport, stopped behind three other vehicles in the southbound lane of Avalon Road at approximately 4:24 pm.

Troopers said the man rammed a sedan parked in front of him and that car hit another car, which hit another car. The driver of the fourth car stepped out to inspect his vehicle before exiting, the trooper said.

The Davenport man was taken to Horizon West Hospital where he was pronounced dead, FHP said. The sedan driver and passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

No information was provided as to why the Davenport man rammed the vehicle in front, and police had no information about a fourth vehicle that left the scene.
