FRISCO — She still smelled like a new car.
Last Wednesday night, Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams received a Chevrolet Corvette that he ordered through Allen Samuels Direct Dealer in Euless. By around 2:15 pm the next day, the sports car was totaled.
The deployment of the airbag left Williams with four lacerations above and to the left of his left eye. Muscle relaxants helped ease the stiffness in his neck. He appears on the team's injury report with a concussion, but Williams says he hasn't had one.
The sleek convertible came with all sorts of bells and whistles.
That seat belt may have saved his life.
"I don't remember much," Williams said of the events leading up to the crash on Preston Road in Plano. I don't know if he was there, but I don't know.I don't remember if it's in the police notebook.I only remember being beaten....I got out of the car.I was like, 'Damn, my car. Look at my f------ car.That was my exact words."Look at my car."

While thanking him for his good health, he expressed his desire to play for the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.
Williams said a car tried to turn in front of him and struck the driver's side of his car.
"I tried to hold on to the wheel and hold myself back," Williams said. "I just [spinning] wherever. Do not know. Stopped. All I heard was, "Get out of the car." I am smoking. I did my best to find the button, because such a car has a button, not a button. [standard handle].'
"I went out and everyone took out their phones. They were like, 'There's no way you could live that way.'

Williams had right-of-way in driving south on Preston Road. A second driver, whom police said was not seriously injured, attempted to turn to Town Square Place. A Plano Police spokesperson said last week police were investigating whether Williams' travel speed played any role.
Williams had a lot on his mind in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
Naturally, he thought about the Corvette itself.
"That's what I wanted," Williams said. "I was going to take it to the game on Christmas Eve. Brand new car. Pretty black. Peanut butter seats. V12 behind it."
But he soon saw the big picture.
Williams was driving home at the time, he said. A young son was waiting there.
"I think we were five or six minutes from home," Williams said. “Looking back on the accident, I am grateful for life. [was] The greatest gift we have is our daily lives. I encourage everyone to hug their loved ones. All disputes with the family will be over, as you never know when that day will come.
"I'm going through it, it's like 'dang'. I called my family, my mother, everyone to check on them. you never know "
