The combination of freezing temperatures and flooding created a nasty surprise when several vehicles became trapped in the icy waters of New Jersey. According to CBS 2 New York and Fox 5 New York, the Edgewater scene was the result of a storm that hit Thursday that brought heavy rain. Filled with feet (0.6 meters) of water. Shortly thereafter, the temperature dropped and the vehicle was encased in ice. Also: Ford Bronco wrecked after owner drove into frozen Ohio River

No word on how many vehicles were trapped, but footage shows how many had ice up to the top of their wheels. Model year Mercedes E320, Jeep Wrangler, Mazda, semi-cars, etc. You can also see an Audi with deployed airbags, probably as a result of the ice. CBS 2 New York spoke with one of the owners, who said he couldn't get in touch with the insurance company because it was a holiday weekend. It's a pity, but hopefully the insurance company will cover the damage once his car is free from the ice.

Speaking of which, it remains unclear how long the vehicle will stay in the chilly resting place. However, warmer weather is on the horizon as he expects temperatures around 50°F (10°C) this weekend. This will probably free the car from its ice grave, but it can cause even more damage as the ice turns back into water.
