On December 24, 2022 at approximately 7:59 PM, three people died in a fatal car crash. The collision occurred in the Lewis area when the 42-year-old Honda driver from Temple, Pennsylvania, was stopped at an intersection on the Lewis-Georgetown Highway on his way south on Minos Conaway Road for a stop sign. did. Honda attempted a left turn at an intersection when a 2016 Land Rover was hit by a vehicle. The front of the Land Rover struck the driver's side of the Honda in the westbound lane of the intersection. After the collision, the Land Rover continued heading west while spinning counterclockwise and came to a stop in the westbound lane. The collision caused the Honda to spin counterclockwise and stop in the eastbound lane. Honda's 42-year-old male operator was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. There were six other occupants in the Honda vehicle, three of whom ejected during the collision. A 35-year-old woman from Temple, Pennsylvania, a 9-year-old woman from Temple, Pennsylvania, and a 74-year-old man from Lewis, Delaware were all ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Confirmation of the victim's identity is pending notification to next of kin. All three passengers, a 12-year-old man, a 4-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, were taken to local hospitals, but their injuries were not life-threatening. The Land Rover driver fled the crash scene on foot and has not been identified at this time. The Delaware State Police Unit 7th Crash Reconstruction Squad continues to investigate the incident.
