We are halfway through the second round of this year’s NCAA Tournament. With eight games already played on Saturday, we have eight more to play on Sunday as a reminder. With eight Sweet 16 spots on the line, the stakes continue to rise as the bracket begins to narrow heading into the second weekend.
Action tips just after noon Sunday with No. 4 seed Illinois and No. 5 seed Illinois kicking off with the first of three South Region matchups The Window afternoon continues with No. 2 seed Villanova and No. 7 seed Ohio State. After both handling business as favorites with double-digit first-round wins, both teams, finally in full health, are the conclusion of a fun afternoon window.
Evening is when things really pick up speed first with a 5:15 tip between two bluebloods of No. 2 seed Duke and No. 7 seed Michigan State led by two Hall of Famers to Mike Krzyzewski and Tom Izzo, respectively. 3-12 all-time against Coach K and his Spartans are 6.5-point dogs. But Coach K in his final season saw his Blue Devils play inconsistently at times last month, and they’re very vulnerable even as one of the top teams in the Western Region, Wisconsin, No. 3, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Purdue and No. 1 Arizona are all in action as the first weekend of action draws to a close.
